Privacy Notice

Newsletter Sign Up and Downloadable Content

We collect personal information as part of the registration process for our monthly e-newsletter and downloadable content. We use that information for a couple of reasons: to tell you about stuff you have expressed an interest in, to contact you if we need to obtain or provide additional information, to check our records are correct, and to check now and then that you’re happy for us to still keep in touch. We don’t rent or trade email lists with other organizations and businesses. Using industry-standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter, we gather statistics around email openings and clicks for more information. You can unsubscribe to general mailings at any time of the day or night by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails.

Website Analytics

When someone visits the Kompetently website, we use a third-party service, Hubspot, to collect internet log information and details of visitor behavior patterns. This works based on reverse business IP tracking. A small tracking code is placed on a business’ website(s), enabling them to identify the business IP addresses of their website visitors. Hubspot matches the identified business IP address to a wholly owned global database of businesses and business information. The software is almost entirely focused on leveraging business-related information to effectively match a business IP address with broader business data to provide valuable business-related visitor information to our customers. It does not identify any personal IP addresses, mobile devices, or data other than that associated with the business. Business-related data is not applicable under GDPR – which intends to protect personal data. Therefore, most of the features of the Hubspot solution are irrelevant to GDPR. More information about Hubspot and GDPR can be found on the Hubspot Privacy Policy page: https://legal.hubspot.com/privacy-policy.

What is a cookie?

Cookies are text files containing small amounts of information downloaded to your personal computer, mobile, or other device when you visit a website. On each subsequent visit, Cookies are sent back to the originating website or to another website that recognizes that cookie. Cookies are functional because they allow a website to recognize a user’s device.

How long are cookies stored?

Persistent cookies remain on a user’s device for the period specified in the cookie. They are activated each time the user visits the website that created the cookie. Session cookies enable website operators to link the actions of a user during a browser session. A browser session starts when a user opens the browser window and finishes when they close it. Session cookies are created temporarily. Once you close the browser, all session cookies are deleted. Cookies do many different jobs, like letting you navigate between pages efficiently, remembering your preferences, and improving the user experience.
